Hauser enlisted and served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard following high school. He was a member of flight crews involved in search & rescue.
Hauser has been a resident of Clarion County for more than 44 years. He came here in 1966 as a new trooper assigned to the Strattanville State Police station. During his career as a State Trooper he was a patrol officer and supervisor. He also held various field and administrative positions. Early in his career he had been a member of the Pennsylvania State Police Rodeo Equestrian Team.
Following his retirement from the State Police Hauser worked in the local manufactured housing industry for eight years as part of the office staff. He retired again in 2004.
Hauser attended Clarion State College while working as a State Trooper. He earned a degree in accounting. His education has been helpful in his prior and present employment.
Hauser is currently serving Clarion County as an auditor. He was appointed to the position by the Honorable Judge James Arner in February 2010 to complete the term of Gregory Faller who was elected to the position of Jury Commissioner.
Hauser has been the financial secretary of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion, Pa. for over eleven years. He is also a lay speaker for the church.
Hauser is married to the former Linda A. Horton of Clarion. They have three children: Daniel, Lisa and Lori, and two grandchildren: Chloe and Alexander.
Hauser believes that his background and his current experience as a county auditor is a benefit for Clarion County.
